S-TECH SEPARATING PISTON FOR WP DAMPERS WITH DEVIATION
VERSION: HIGH VOLUME
To separate oil and nitrogen in the damper, WP uses a plastic separation piston in their shock absorbers.
The original part from WP uses only an o-ring for sealing at the factory. This can cause the separator piston to tilt in the housing and consequently break.
Thefriction coefficients can also increase which can lead to greater heat generation and poorer response
The solution is available from S-TECH:
The S-TECH separator piston have compared to the OEM separator pistons in addition to the O-ring still an oil-lubricated Teflon piston ring. This piston ring guides the separator piston cleanly on the housing running surface and thus prevents any tilting. This ensures a long service life and good response
Additional for High Volume version:
The S-TECH separation piston in the High Volume version is designed in such a way that the piston crown is curved upwards and thus the nitrogen volume is larger than with the standard separation piston.
Asa result, the compression curve of the nitrogen volume is less progressive and thus the damping curve is also less progressive depending on the path (the nitrogen pressure acts 1:1 on the shim package)
The separator piston can be installed without significant effort in the course of a service or tuning
